Autumnal Dinnerparties – The Ultimate Guide to Hosting this Autumn

There’s nothing better to do on a gloomy evening than spend time in the comfort of your own home with the people you love.

After a summer of BBQs, picnics and alfresco dining, it’s time to retreat into the warm and host a cosy autumnal dinner party. Inviting friends or family over is an opportunity to create an inviting space to catch up, relax and enjoy some delicious food together.

Let’s set the scene with some seasonal décor, crack open the candles and mix and match your gorgeous pieces of Katie Alice for the occasion.

Setting the table

In order to make it as simple as possible to host family and friends in the future, we’ve launched sets of plates and bowls in your favourite designs.

That’s right, you asked and we delivered! It’s never been easier to lay the table with a spread of beautiful Katie Alice ceramics, now that you can buy four-person dinner settings.

From Blooming Margaret to Vintage Indigo, decorate your table with plush florals, vintage patterns and a splash of colour with these uniformed plates.

If you prefer a more maximalist look, feel free to mix and match your favourite collections! Blooming Margaret and Josie’s Blush complement each other perfectly with hues of pinks, while Wild Apricity and Vintage Indigo bring tones of deep blues to the table.

Tablecloth Hack

We searched everywhere for the perfect shade of Forest Green tablecloth for a reasonable price but couldn’t find one! Instead, we adapted this beautiful linen curtain from The Secret Linen Store. Long enough to make a tablecloth and 4 napkins to tie in with your décor for half the price of any tablecloths I could find! It also reduces the waste of throw-away, themed tablecloths.

Halloween-themed autumnal dinner parties

The addition of a few props such as some bright mini pumpkins, some colourful autumn leaves, and mini apples or crab apples will really elevate your tablescape. And let’s face it it wouldn’t be Halloween without some mini pumpkins! Mix in with some small vases of pretty flowers and you’re all set for your guests to arrive.

Don’t forget – mini pumpkins and gourds aren’t just for display! Roast them, add them to curries or stews or make root vegetable mash with them afterwards!

Creating the right atmosphere

Cosy evenings call for one particular form of lighting, candles.

From the woody tones of our Bohemian Spirit collection to the sweet floral notes of vanilla and chocolate of The Wild Apricity range, our candles have a fragrance for everyone.

Treat yourself to a lovely soy wax candle in a range of finishes in deep blues, delicate florals and burnt orange and mustard yellow tones to bring a new depth to the seasonal table.

Our candles are either available in a frosted jar, a double wick or a set of three-miniature-sized candles in a collection.

A Warming menu

Delight your guests with a warming meal such as a seasonal soup, roasted pumpkin and chickpea curry, and maybe even a spiced fruit dessert for good measure.

Squash and pumpkins make excellent soups this time of year and are a great way to reduce waste after carving pumpkins. Find our favourite pumpkin soup recipe here.

A warming drink

Autumnal dinner parties just aren’t complete without a good bottle of red wine. Ours will be from our lovely local independent wine shop –  Shekleton Wines which also have an online shop! Our set of 4 etched wine glasses is perfect for a cosy glass of red wine with dinner. Match with the tumblers and even the champagne flutes if you’re celebrating a special occasion. All are currently available in the sale.

So there you have it! Warm up a cold Autumn evening with our ideas for hosting a Halloween or Autumnal dinner party!
