Hello lovely People,
So…we really struggled with the idea of black Friday this year. There’s so much pressure as a business to join in, and all the worry that you might miss out on the big sales day of the year if you don’t get involved while everyone else does.
But here’s the thing.
We’re just a small business. We can’t compete with the big boys and also feel like even if we did, it creates low customer confidence aka “why can’t they sell it that cheap all year” – which is how I feel when I see the big chains on the high-street having yet another one of their countless sales through-out the year.
Also, I don’t know about you but I get a bit tired of constantly being sold to all the time. There’s just So. Much. Stuff. And more importantly there are a lot of people who don’t even have a roof over their head, let alone an amazon prime account with the whole world just a 1-click purchase away.
So this year for black Friday, we’re not doing a sale. We’re not trying to flog you any seconds or cheap products we bought in especially for the sale or leftover tat that we can’t shift.
Instead we’re donating 10% of all sales to a local charity – and after a week’s deliberating, we’ve decided on the Peterborough Soup Kitchen – run by volunteers and where 100% of the profits go to the charity.
So if you’ve been meaning to buy something from Katie Alice for a while, or have a Christmas present to get for someone – do it on black Friday!
